Should I buy my son a real basketball hoop or a plastic playskool kids one?

Posted by admin on February 13th, 2010 and filed under playskool | 5 Comments »

My son is 5. He is 4′4" tall and 75-80lbs. He’s very tall for his age.

Anyway, one of the things that he told me that he wanted was a basketball hoop and ball for Christmas.

I am trying to decide if I should buy him a real hoop and ball and he can learn on it, or if I should go the cheaper and kid-friendly route and get a cheap playskool type of hoop and ball combo.

I’m asking because of his age. I know that a regular hoop might be too big for him, but I can keep it on the lowest setting. He can then grow into it.

Thanks for the help.

I think a regular hoop would be better for him. If it has different settings so as to make it lower as you suggest, then that seems ideal. Merry Christmas!

Know of Alternatives for Playskool’s Pipeworks Toys?

Posted by admin on February 10th, 2010 and filed under playskool | 1 Comment »

I am looking for something like the old Playskool Pipeworks toys (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pipeworks) to buy my son for Christmas. The toy is discontinued and only available used on eBay. I’m considering bidding on some, but would rather get something new and cheaper if I could.

I mainly want something to support sheets and stuff to build forts. I found CrazyForts.com, but read some reviews on Amazon that they aren’t too sturdy. My son is fairly destructive; something like the PBC pipes in Pipeworks would do better.

Any thoughts on alternatives? Thanks in advance.

Lincoln logs or Lego’s or wooden blocks

Does anyone out there know where I can buy a Play- Doh Fun Cutter by Playskool?

It looks like a oversized swiss army knife for cutting play-doh.

Try E-Bay or the Playskool websight

Why didn’t playskool/hasbro sue the creators of "Child’s Play"?

Posted by admin on February 3rd, 2010 and filed under playskool | 1 Comment »

for making Chucky look so much like the "My Buddy" doll?? I’m sure a ton of people got rid of theirs after the movie came out, I know I didn’t like mine very much after having found out about him!! The movie probably really hurt sales for those dolls!! Couldn’t the toy companies have made a lot of money? DID they sue and I just don’t know about it??

I heard Paramount sued the creators of Furbies for making them look like "Gizmo" from "The Gremlins", then they worked out a patent for Furby for make Gizmo Furbies!!

Why didn’t Playskool/Hasbro pull a fast one on the studio?? Just wondering.

I guess I will try my best to answer this, since no one else did. Which I’m shocked by, as I thought this was a very interesting question. I googled everything I could think of, but came up empty. That is really strange though. I could never look at My Buddy, or even Kid Sister after seeing that movie! Sorry I didn’t really answer your question.

(((Jess))) Lots of love for your baby girl!

Who makes a better dollhouse and accessories; playskool, fisher price or mattel? Will they work together?

Posted by admin on February 1st, 2010 and filed under playskool | 2 Comments »

My 4 year old daughter is ready for her first dollhouse. She saw one at a yard sale with all the furniture for $35. At the time I thought that was crazy, but I have since discovered what a mistake I made passing up hundreds of dollars worth of savings!!!

I have been shopping around and like the fisher price dollhouse the best, but the furniture sets can become expensive. Searching on ebay I have found used and new sets for barbie, playskool and fisher price, but are they compatible? Will the difference really show? If I can find them new, which are the better value? Any opinions or experience would be helpful! I want this to be a great Christmas!

I really like playskool–their houses have soo much detail.
Depending on which one you saw–it may have been well worth the 35.00
The older ones–are sturdy and fun.

As for them working together–I think your daughter wouldnt care if the furniture she has wasnt specifically for that dollhouse–as long as it all fits in.
You could always look on ebay for accessories and furn.

This is my fave one of playskool-I cant wait until my daughter gets a little older so she can have her first dollhouse.
this one is pricey on there–but is the only one listed at the moment.

I did see the fisher price my first dollhouse–but it looks kinda…small.

The one I posted a link to-I used to have and made it into a ’summer’ home for my strawberry shortcake dolls :p
(Im an adult collector, lol)
A lot of room in it–and there are always auctions listed for the furniture.

Anyone ever make a dollhouse out of a cardboard box?

Posted by admin on January 30th, 2010 and filed under playskool | 5 Comments »

My husband said that is cheap but I read online that its a good idea to use a box from a washer, dryer, or an appliance. Just curious if anyone has done this? Think I will go check out the Rose Petal Cottage from Playskool. That was the best advice I got so far for a dollhouse for my daughter’s babydolls.

Making your own stuff is so much fun and a lot cheaper. I say give it a go, your kids can even get involved and help you make it.

I made a dolls house with a couch, curtains, carpet and beds for a provision at work, the children loved it. They were 2 years old, I made it really easy to access and very colorful to attract their attention.

I had a lot of fun making it too and I had a lot of parents comment on how much they liked it.
