I’ve recently found an interest in collecting and identifying porcelain figurines, but I’m having trouble finding good information on the symbols and markings on the bottom of the pieces. Anyone know of any good books or websites that can help me?

Go to collectors forums, particularly checking on more narrow periods. Library may have books also.

In 2007 Mattel had a massive recall of toys painted with lead containing paint. But what did they do with all these contaminated toys? did they recycle them? send them to dumps? burn them? launch them into space??There were just so many!

They probably gave them to kids in third world countries to play with.

I don’t like talking about others peoples business but its just when other people start talking about others peoples lives i might have a lil comment to add and then i somehow feel guilty….is it normal?

Just think before you speak and stay quiet. replace with your suggestion with a shoulder shrug or change the topic. I have to do this with my mom because she enjoys gossip and I refuse to talk behind peoples backs.

We have one nice one of the fireplace mantle, and another Playskool one under the Christmas tree for the kids to play with. I like having them around to remind us of the true reason for the holiday because it can often get lost in all the materialism that surrounds Christmas now, but my kids love Santa and Frosty – so they are represented too. How do you keep a good balance at Christmas time? Do you put up a few nativities? Or do you only celebrate the holiday for the material/social aspects and ignore religion?
